PREPERATION OF SUBSTRATE.

The substrate must be clean, dry and free from contamination; remove existing coatings by stripping or sanding. Moisture content should be 20% or less. It is recommended that a sample of the substrate is coated to establish both absorption properties and possible colour change.

APPLICATION.

Flametect CWD. may be applied to wood by spray , brush or roller.

The desired absorption rate for most woods & MDF is typically 4 square metres per litre

The absorption rate by other timber based products ( plywood, strand board etc. ) is less as adhesives & bonding agents prevent total absorption

Where multiple coats are required please allow approximately 1 hour between coats

When applied externally please either protect from the elements or where possible opt for a dry 24 -48 hour application / drying period

OVER-COATING.

If treated timber is to be over-coated we recommend testing a small area first before fully over-coating with varnish, stain or paint. Care should be taken that the fire retardant properties are not compromised,

DRYING TIMES.

A minimum of 1 hour between coats. Full drying time approximately 24 hours at +20ºc / 65 relative humidity.

MAINTAINENCE.

Once the treatment has been absorbed into the surface of the substrate and dried, it will last for the useful life of the substrate.

STORAGE.

Flametect CWD has a shelf life of 24 months and should be stored upright. The product should be stored at temperatures above zero.
